Tips on How to Conceive a Baby Boy
Pregnancy can be a confusing time. You’re flooded with lots of different experiences and opinions to go with them. Choosing maternity wear is no different. The decision to buy maternity clothes is not easy, with many styles leaving you feeling less than frumpy but if you find the right style, you can easily flatter that gorgeous growing bump!
When Mallory Welch, owner of Maive & Bo was pregnant with her first baby, she was under the delusional belief that she could wear her normal clothes. “My body rapidly changed day-by-day and it soon became apparent that I’d have to diverge into the world of maternity clothes”.
Mallory shares her top tips to buying maternity wear:
Buying larger clothing sizes will only make you look bigger, plus you’ll never be able to wear them again once bub comes.
“Wear stretchy, body-con dresses to accentuate your curvy figure whilst enhancing your best assets.”
Generally, when buying maternity wear, you can just choose your normal size. It’s important to remember though that pregnant bodies change at different rates, so your normal size may not be normal when you’re pregnant.
“I become obsessed with checking the store’s size chart (when buying maternity online) to avoid the hassle of sending something back.”
“My breasts were the first thing to change – going from a B-cup to DD! I really had to check that the maternity clothes sizes were right for me before buying anyone online.”
A simple style and versatile coloured maternity dress can work for so many occasions. Style with shoes, accessories and jackets to dress-up or down the maternity dress to make it appropriate for work, a shopping trip or night out.
“I had a black maternity dress that I wore everywhere! I wore it to work with a jacket and heels and even a wedding – I just dialled up the jewellery a bit. It was the best dress; I could even breastfeed in it after.”
A maternity dress that can be worn during and after pregnancy is worth its weight in gold.
