Miracle Babies Foundation and Tommee Tippee help raise well needed funds

Each year, almost 50,000 newborn babies start their lives in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Nursery, with almost 30,000 of these babies born premature.

Sadly, up to 1000 babies lose their fight for life.

This World Prematurity Day, Saturday 17th November, the Miracle Babies Foundation is teaming up with Tommee Tippee, with the goal of raising $20,000.

These funds would allow 300 families access to the Miracle Babies Foundation’s NurtureProgram, which includes a 24-hour helpline, support sessions with qualified volunteers, out of hospital play and support groups, access to health professionals such as speech pathologists, physiotherapists, family support nurses, social workers and occupational therapists, emergency care packs and NICU Survival Packs.

By tipping in Australian’s can help little Miracles like Piper Gaskell. Piper was born 4 months prematurely and stayed in the NICU and hospital for six months. One year on, thanks to the support of the Miracle Babies Foundation, Piper is vibrant, health and loving life.

“Piper is doing awesome, better than I expected. I thought that this year we would be in and out of hospital, but Piper is a little trooper and is determined to let nothing get in her way,” says mum, Hayley Buhagiar.

“It’s such an uncontrolled and difficult experience having a premmie, but the help of family, friends and an incredible support base of Nurses and professions that helps give with the peace of mind that help is never far away,” Hayley says.

Last year’s campaign, also supported by Tommee Tippee, saw $7000 donated to the Miracle Babies Foundation, and this year, they’re hoping there’ll be a few extras tipping in to reach the $20,000 goal.

“For families challenged with a premature or sick baby, the experience can be life changing,” says Kylie Pussell, CEO and Co-Founder of The Miracle Babies Foundation.

“We are grateful for the amazing support of Tommee Tippee. The partnership will certainly go a long way in helping us touch the lives of more families in Australia in need of our support.”

The campaign will run from 17th of October until 17th of November, and anyone people can lend their support and make a donation any time via the Tommee Tippee Raisley website.
