A welcome hashtag trended on Twitter over the weekend after comedian and dad Adam Hills posted a picture of himself changing his daugter’s nappy.

Using the hashtag #smelfie, Hills made no secret of the nappy’s contents and accompanied the image with a meaningful message – Real men change nappies.

It wasn’t long before Hills was bombarded with hilarious #smelfies from other dads, along with the gory details.

As usual there were those that took issue with the trend, claiming dads should stop making a big deal about a mundane parenting task.

But Hills responded by reminded the haters to have a sense of humour.

“I’m RT’ing #smelfie photos to encourage more dads to change nappies. Anyone unhappy with that needs a sense of humour transplant,” Hills posted.
