A newborn baby was attacked by the family dog as she slept in her bassinet early this morning.
The seven-day-old baby girl was bitten in the face by the family’s Alaskan Malamute at their Campbelltown property.
Her parents had placed the infant in the bassinet at the end of their bed following an early morning feed, but woke to the sound of her screaming.

Police said paramedics took the baby to Cambelltown Hospital for treatment to facial wounds before being taken to The Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick.
Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
This case follows the death of a baby in England’s northeast last week.
The baby boy was attacked by the family dog, believed to be a small terrier, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A 30-year-old man who was inside the house when the attack took place was arrested.
