As an exclusive breast pumping mum, I wanted to mimic the breast as much as I could. I searched for a few different brands and seemed to always bounce back to NUK. I had originally used NUK 9 years ago with my first. Here I am 9 years later with my second. Unlike other bottles I have tried with my baby, the NUK ones don’t leak, the nipple is shaped as breast-like as possible, there is a 99% chance of acceptance with the NUK First Choice Plus teats and they have super cute designs!
When I found out my baby had colic at a few weeks old, I was pulling my hair out for days because I was using an alternative brand and was hell-bent on using that. I found a NUK bottle that my mother-in-law had bought for me as that’s what was used last time and bam! No colic! No screaming baby! When I was offered a chance to review the NUK First Choice Glow in the Dark bottle I jumped for joy!
FIRST LOOK
The NUK First Choice Glow in the Dark bottle is made from BPA-free materials and high-quality hard-wearing polypropylene is suitable for freezing which is a bonus as I’m an expressing Mum.
The ring that holds the teat in place glows however the print on the bottle does not. The added bonus of the glow in the dark feature is amazing. No more turning on the lights to feed as I can see! It’s true what NUK advertises – it glows for ages! I left it on the nightstand and it was glowing when I woke up. It also features an amazing temperature control indicator. No more scalding my wrists, just look at the temperature control indicator, if it’s white it’s too hot (over 37°).
EFFECTIVENESS
The bottle has an extra wide bottle neck, making it super easy to clean and fill, and as my 4-month-old is getting bigger he is finding it super easy to hold the NUK bottle. With a 300ml capacity, this is ample space for me to express milk into for up to 2.5 feeds. The 6-18m hole is not too fast either. My little one at 4 months old has taken the 6-18m size like a champ.
The NUK First Choice Glow in the Dark bottle is super effective and has the added bonus of not turning on the lights to wake up bubs searching for his bottle! Since using the NUK First Choice Glow in the Dark bottles I have noticed a decrease in my son’s colic episodes thanks to the anti-colic air system.
OUTCOMES/BENEFITS
The NUK First Choice Glow in the Dark bottle is a dream. The bottle was already a match made in heaven. The added feature of the glow in the dark along with the temperature control indicator just makes life bliss and easily fits in the nappy bag.
I love knowing that NUK bottles are clinically tested for a 99% acceptance rate with babies as they mimic the natural shape of the mother’s breast. Thanks to the anti-colic air feature, my son is the happy boy he was. The NUK First Choice Glow in the Dark bottles are super easy to hold and are not heavy or uncomfortable due to the width of the neck or the length of the bottle.
I would 1000% recommend the NUK First Choice Glow in the Dark bottles to other mums! I stand by NUK. They are an amazing brand and have delivered exactly what was said on the packaging.
At $12 for a single NUK First Choice Glow in the Dark bottle, I’d say this is a reasonable price for an anti-colic, temperature control indicated bottle with glow in the dark.
