Dr Andrew Pickering, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Dr Andrew Pickering qualified as a doctor in England, training at Leicester University, world-famous St James Hospital (Jimmy’s) in Leeds and later in Sydney, where he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Dr Pickering also has a Master of Health Law from Nottingham Law School.

Dr Pickering works across multiple clinics and hospitals, including Mater Hospital, one of Sydney’s leading maternity hospitals known for its excellent care and delivery of more than 2,500 babies each year.

A clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney, he is also actively involved in teaching medical students at Notre Dame Medical School.

With more than 20 years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Pickering works to ensure every woman he cares for and their family get the best, evidence-based, care available. He has experience with supporting both high-risk and low-risk pregnancies and managing menstrual disorders, and has an interest in minimally invasive Gynaecology, Gynaecological Laparoscopy and Endometriosis.

Dr Pickering uses his experience in both the NHS and public health care here in Australia to support women in all their birth choices. He recognises the importance of caring for women experiencing complications of early pregnancy and is happy to arrange urgent consults in this area.

Dr Pickering is based in Sydney’s Northern Beaches and lives with his wife and two daughters. When he’s not working, he loves to help out in his local community and go for a run.
