Week 39 Of Your Pregnancy

It’s week 39! If you weren’t so tired, you probably wouldn’t believe that you are mere days (fingers crossed) away from giving birth. Your baby is anywhere between 2.5 and 4 kilos and and may measure 40 to 48 centimeters when stretched out from head to toe. This is a healthy weight range for any new born. You’ll be feeling every ounce of your baby and you’ll probably be feeling quite emotional. Be kind to yourself, sister.

CHANGES TO YOUR BODY:

Speaking of emotional, you’re probably on a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions right now. There’s more to come, so it’s worth being prepared. The ‘baby blues’ are really a thing, not just an old wives tale, so have a read all about it here, as most women experience experience it in some form and if you’re a bit prepared for it, it can make it a little easier to deal with.

You are probably feeling very tired and possibly fed up of being pregnant. You may find it difficult to get up from sitting and could be struggling with aches and pains. Hopefully you won’t have too long to wait although only about five percent of women give birth on their actual due dates. It is around this time that many mums to be start experimenting with natural ways to induce labour. Some popular methods include spicy food, sex, long walks and nipple tweaking. Always speak to your doctor before trying anything to bring on labour.

LIFESTYLE CONSIDERATIONS:

Try to rest as much as possible and keep things simple. Don’t cook big elaborate meals or undertake any major projects around the house. If you are able to, take a walk for at least twenty minutes every day to keep yourself in shape and alleviate aches and pains.

GENERAL ADVICE:

Accept help wherever possible and don’t try to do everything yourself.
