The opportunity to try and review the new Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles couldn’t have come at a better time for me.
With a 7 month old, who seems to have reverted to feeding like a newborn, and a job offer on the table which might see me return to work sooner than planned, it was time to introduce my little man – Fletcher – to the bottle. He had taken the bottle as a newborn for a few weeks but I was a little nervous about how he would take to it after such a long time.
Useful features:
There are lots of things I really like about the Tommee Tippee bottles. One of the best things is the teat – it is soft and flexible and Fletcher has taken to it almost immediately. I think this is because the shape and size are similar to the breast and he can manipulate it as he would if he was breastfeeding. Even my husband noticed this feature when he was feeding Fletch.
The slow flow teat also regulates the flow of milk, so it comes out at a speed very manageable for baby.
I also like the different sizes that the bottles come in. I have previously used the 150ml bottles when my first baby was first born. This time I am trying the 260ml bottle which is the perfect size for a 7 month old. The size and shape of the bottle mean that, with a little more practice, Fletcher will easily be able to hold the bottle himself – with just a little help from mummy. I also have the 340ml to use as he gets bigger. Regardless of the size, they all fit in the Closer to Nature electric steriliser.
The bottles are BPA free which I think is really important and is something I look for in any bottles my family uses, and they are durable so I know that they will survive the trips to and from daycare each day, when that time comes.
Overall review:
Introducing Fletcher to the bottle using the Tommee Tippee bottles has been a positive experience for both him and for me. I feel very confident that we will be able to use the bottles for some feeds going forward without compromising our breastfeeding journey.
I give the Tommee Tippee bottles 4 out 5 star rating and would highly recommend them to other mums wanting to introduce their baby to the bottle.
