Any mum that bottle feeds becomes fiercely loyal to a specific brand of bottle and will tell you it is the only one that will work. So when it comes to buying bottles pre-birth you can be bombarded with opinions and tales of what bottles work best.

The most important feature you want to look for is a natural teat that is ‘just like mum’ to make going between breast and bottle as easy as possible. The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles supports a natural latch by mimicking the shape, movement, and stretch of mum’s breast. It’s also a brand that you’ll be repeatedly recommended by mums when you first look for bottles.

Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Original Bottles

My four-month-old daughter has been using Tommee Tippee bottles since she was about three weeks old with no issues. When she was two and half months old she went through three weeks of breast refusal where she hardly ate and didn’t gain any weight. Unfortunately, she also developed bottle refusal and it was a struggle to encourage her to take the bottle again. We tried all the different bottle brands on the market, but we always ended up having the most success with Tommee Tippee Close to Nature bottles.

Useful features:

Recently I have been using a different brand of bottle in the hope that my little girl’s newly found bottle refusal would disappear. It wasn’t until I started using the 260ml Closer to Nature bottles that I’ve had continued success. As these bottles are larger than the newborn sized 150ml bottles her little hands are able to hold the sides as she feeds.

Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Original Bottles

The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles has a super soft silicone breast like teat along with an extra wide neck that babies can put in their mouth as they would if feeding on the breast. The breast like teat allows for a smooth flow of milk and prevents too much air entering the bottle, which can cause an upset tummy.

My little girl likes to get as much of her mouth as she can around my breast when she feeds, which is why I think the most successful feedings we have are with the Close to Nature teats. With these teats, she is able to widely open her mouth and take in most of the teat without touching the plastic rim.

The Closer to Nature bottles come in plain and are also BPA free for peace of mind.

Improvements:

It is a little frustrating that the Closer to Nature bottles are not compatible with the Ultra and Advanced Comfort teats, especially if you’re a mum who has tried almost every bottle on the market. I personally own all three Tommee Tippee bottle brands and it would make life so much easier to be able to grab any teat and bottle and know it will work together. Trust me, I have tried and learned the hard way, they are definitely not compatible and if you manage to jam the teat onto the wrong bottle it will leak all over you and your baby.

Overall review:

I am pleased to say my baby is overcoming her bottle refusal and loving the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles. There is no better feeling than seeing your baby gaze up at you while feeding. I’m now definitely that brand loyal mum who will share tales of why the Close to Nature bottles worked.

Don’t forget to change the speed of teats as your baby grows to ensure they continue to enjoy the bottle!
