Early Signs Of Pregnancy

Pregnancy can be very confusing for most women as they try to find out whether they are really pregnant. Early signs of pregnancy are very important during conception to understand how likely they are to mean that you are pregnant. You also have to be knowledgeable about the signs and symptoms that you are experiencing as other common early pregnancy symptoms can also be indicative of other changes in the body or even a disease.

What are the early signs of pregnancy?

1. Missed, particularly light or no period

Pregnancy bleeding from implantation is pinkish or brownish and not heavy. A normal menstrual flow should begin light, become heavy, and then taper off again before ending. One of the first symptoms of pregnancy you may notice is that your period does not arrive. It is one of the more obvious early signs of pregnancy, especially if your period is usually regular. During the first month of your pregnancy, it is possible that you will have no symptoms other than this.

2. Food cravings and aversions

This symptom is not uncommon for newly pregnant women to find normally acceptable or even pleasant smells repulsive and overpowering early in the pregnancy. These are very common during the early stages of pregnancy. Though food cravings are among the most well known early pregnancy signs, most women get odd food cravings during pregnancy or even aversions to certain types of food they used to like. This distaste may come and go throughout the pregnancy.

3. A sensitive sense of smell

This symptom is not uncommon for newly pregnant women to find normally acceptable or even pleasant smells repulsive and overpowering early in the pregnancy. Certain aromas may even trigger your gag reflex.

4. Nausea or vomiting

Also known as “morning sickness”. it can happen at any time of the day or night. (It may help to eat small meals throughout the day, snack on crackers or toast, or drink juice or lemonade). It can occur as early as two weeks after conception and tends to disappear by the end of the third month of the pregnancy. Most women do not experience this symptom of pregnancy until about a month after conception, though some experience it very early.

5. Exhaustion

It is another of the most common early signs of pregnancy. The stress of adjusting to the series of physical changes that you will experience along with the increased levels of progesterone your body will produce can lead to exhaustion, though this will most likely become less noticeable during the second trimester.

6. Breasts swell or may be tender

If you develop tender and swollen breasts that are also sore, pregnancy is a very likely possibility. The discomfort you experience in your breasts may be similar to, but will usually be more severe than, that which you feel before your monthly menstrual period. This can be noticed when you are going to sleep or when you are taking a shower or getting dressed. After the first trimester, the pain should diminish significantly, as your body adjusts to the new hormonal levels. This is one of the most apparent very early signs of pregnancy.

7. Frequent urination

This sign of pregnancy occur as early as two weeks after conception is also indicative of pregnancy. During pregnancy, the amount of blood and other fluids in your body rapidly boosts, and your kidneys must process more than usual. As a result, more liquid ends up in your bladder. Many women experience more frequent urination even before a missed period, usually from about 7-12 days after the temperature rise at ovulation. This will most likely persist during the pregnancy, as your growing baby exerts increasing pressure on your bladder.

8. You experience mood swings

feel angry, sad, or happy for no reason.

9. Lightheadedness

When you are pregnant, you might feel dizzy or even faint at times. This is usually not an issue past the fourth month of pregnancy. The feeling of being lightheaded is a result of the swelling of the uterus when you are pregnant and its compressing the arteries of the legs leading to lowering of blood pressure and dizziness.
