  • Best Ways To Conceive A Girl

Conceiving a girl could be the approach to complete your family or just to have your own preference. Regardless of why you need to it, there are effective ways that you can do to prepare yourself to conceive a girl.

Even though none of these methods have been scientifically proven, many of couples try them with a reported success rate ranging from 50 to 90 percent. That’s better than 50/50! You can try one at a time, though they can be combined with folklore techniques.

There are certain things that you should learn to increase your chances of conceiving a girl and they include:

    The Shettles Method
This method claims a 75% to 90% success rate by learning the characteristics of sex chromosomes carried by a man’s sperm.

    The Folklores
There’s really no harm in trying some of the following beliefs if you have your desire set on a baby girl. Make sure that the method you will try is harmless.

Here’s the video overview of the Shettles Method:

    What Is Shettles Method?

The Shettles method was developed by Dr. Landrum B. Shettles in the 1960s who claimed a 75% to 90% success rate for this home gender selection method. He said that the X chromosome bearing sperm will make you a daughter or a girl, and the Y chromosome bearing sperm will make you a son or a boy.

The Y-sperm (carries a male child) are fast, but are quite weak, and frequently breaks up and dies in the vaginal canal in one to two days. The male?s sperm journey is even shorter if the vaginal tract is extremely acidic. Methods that don?t demand strength, but that rely on speed can help if you want to conceive a boy.

The X-sperm (carries a female) are slow-moving and poky, but are very tough and lasting. They can stay up to 4 days waiting for the egg without weakening or dying out. So conception techniques that do not call for speed but depend alternatively on strength are the better way to go here.

To cut it short, the boy Y-sperm would win a race against girl sperm, BUT, girl X-sperm would win against boy sperm in a survivor competition.

Below Are Dr. Shettles’ Best Ways To Conceive A Girl

Ovulation Prediction To Conceive A Girl

Ovulation prediction with great accuracy is very essential because hypothetically, if you take a long gap in the time frame a few days earlier, you will increase your chances of conceiving a baby girl because the weaker Y sperm will not survive before the egg is released, leaving the stronger, longer surviving X sperm in greater numbers.

In increasing your chances of conceiving a girl, try having sex with your partner 2 ½ to 3 days before ovulation. But if you try conceiving as close to the moment of ovulation, you’ll grant the speedy, male child sperm to be around in the rush for the egg.

Store bought ovulation predictor kits can cost quite a bit, but you can use our ovulation calculator and try it out a few cycles so that you can determine your ovulation period accurately.

You can also use other ways to pinpoint your time of ovulation such as:

    • Understanding your menstrual cycle
    • Checking your cervical mucus
    • Taking your basal body temperature
    • Using an ovulation calendar
    • Keeping an eye on your luteal phase

What To Eat To Conceive A Girl?

If you are planning for pregnancy, healthy diet is important to boost natural fertility. Surprisingly, your diet also affects your chances in conceiving a girl. Here’s why.

A woman’s body and vagina’s PH plays an important role in the process of trying to conceive a girl. It is a fact that an acidic PH will give the X sperm (girl) a distinct edge since the environment will be too harsh for the Y (boy) sperm. It is also helpful to make the environment of your vagina acidic to increase the odds in conceiving a girl.  In those cases, eating certain kinds of food can alter PH as well.

One of the certain things that you should learn in trying to conceive a girl, or at least give you a higher chance of conceiving a girl is to alter your diet. To conceive a girl a diet higher in magnesium, calcium and acidic foods are advised.

Here is the short list of foods to eat:

    • fruits – cranberries
    • fats and oils
    • grains
    • nuts and butters
    • dairy
    • beans and legumes
    • pasta (white)
    • alcoholic beverages

To conceive a girl, it is also advisable to avoid alkaline based foods, because this will help in optimal chance of having a baby girl, and create a less suitable environment for the boy sperm.

This can include, but is not limited to foods such as:

    • sweeteners like stevia and ki sweet
    • most fruits and vegetables
    • spices and seasonings
    • vinegar
    • tea

These are acidic foods, some even more acidic than others would think. The more acid intake you have, the lower your PH level is going to be, making your body a pretty inhospitable place to be for the Y-sperm (male), and allow the X-sperm (female) a greater chance of reaching the egg and fertilising it.

Don’t forget to have vaginal testing strips for PH level testing.

Sexual Positions That Will Increase The Chances Of Conceiving A Girl

The type of thrusting strokes the man uses during sexual intercourse can also affect the chances between conceiving a boy and conceiving a girl. Deep or shallow penetration can make a big difference.

When the man uses very deep thrusts and ejaculates his sperm deep inside the woman’s vagina, the sperm will lodge somewhere deep inside near the cervix, and as a result, it will have less space to travel to meet the egg. However, if the man uses shallow strokes and ejaculates at an angle into her vagina, the sperm may get a place closer to the opening of the vagina, and thus it will have a longer distance to travel to meet the egg.

Missionary position is recommended because your partner will most likely ejaculate the sperm at the entrance of the vagina. The area is far from the cervix and more acidic. The acidity of the environment will be harsh on the weaker Y sperm (boy) which becomes favorable for the X-sperm (girl) to fertilize your egg.

    What Men Can Do

A woman’s body PH can influence the gender of the baby but, the ph of a man’s sperm does not affect in any way. No matter what his family history is (in terms of baby gender) and no matter what makes up his diet. Also, a man has a 50 / 50 ratio of Y to X sperm except for male infertility problems.

The best thing a man can do is to support his partner in terms of the right kinds of food for her to eat, understanding the Shettles’ method, waiting until the time is right to have sex, and understanding sexual positions. To conceive a girl, it is not ideal for a man to drink coffee before sex because it would make his sperm with Y (male) chromosomes become more active.

    The Folklores

Experts insist folklores are are rarely true, but there’s really no harm in trying some of the following beliefs if you have your desire set on a baby girl. Make sure that they should be harmless activities.

    Chinese Gender Calendar Chart

According to a survey, they find the accuracy rate of this method less than 75%. However, most Chinese say that the Chinese gender calendar chart is over 90% accurate when is only used properly.

Other Traditional Beliefs To Conceive A Girl

    • Have a sexual intercourse in the afternoon.
    • Have sex with your partner during the even numbered days of the month.
    • Try to have sex during the full moon.
    • Traditional beliefs say that women who initiate sex are more likely to give birth to daughters.

As you may expect, mothers have a tendency to prefer daughters, while fathers usually express a greater desire in conceiving a boy. However, parents who currently have a child of one gender usually wish for the opposite gender on the next pregnancy to produce a more balanced family.

We hope that you find these ways to conceive a girl useful but remember, the nature provides a 50% chance of ones desired sex anyway. In addition, it can be hard to track an ovulation due to irregular menstrual cycle, medications, and increase sexual activity. Difficulty conceiving is also an issue.  However, you can give it a go anyway as it certainly can’t hurt to try.
