A birth record is the official registration certificate, containing information about the birth of an individual. Some people do not have the original carbon or photocopy of the birth certificate given to their mothers later after their birth. A birth record is essential especially in times that a person wants to request a copy of his birth certificate.

Public Birth Records

These birth records are kept by the country?s government of each state. A birth certificate or birth record documents significant information about a child?s birth. Usually these records are based on the submission of birth certificates from hospitals. These records can also be a source of historical and demographic information.

What Is A Birth Certificate?

A birth certificate is a vital record that documents the birth of a child. A birth certificate is one of life?s most important documents. This document can pertain to either the original document or a certified copy of or representation of the original record of birth. When an infant is placed for adoption at birth, the court-appointed guardian ad litem more or adoption agency may file the birth certificate data.

The standard ?birth certificate? or ?certificate of live birth? usually but not always contains uniquely identifying information but always should have testaments from eyewitness?s (health care providers, orderly). The birth registration process may be supported by social services, such as health care and education. Health centres and hospital sometimes have civil registrars on site that can provide a child?s birth certificate at birth or during a health care visit.

Adoption Birth Records

An open birth record is generally known to as the practise of opening original birth records to adult adoptees, and this should not be confused with the term ?open adoption?, which can occur with or without sealed records, depending on the laws of the state in which it is carried out.

A sealed or closed birth record, as opposed to open records, pertains to the practise of sealing the original birth certificate on a child upon adoption. The original sealed birth certificate is replaced with a new birth certificate declaring the adoptee to be the child of his or her adoptive parents. This King of birth record has an aim to protect the adopted child from the shame of his or her illegitimate birth. It is also generally associated with closed adoption.

Adoption Disclosure

It refers to the official release of information relating to the legal adoption of a child. Some western countries had legislation intended to prevent adoptees and adoptive families from knowing the identities of birth parents and vice versa. However, there is change of laws that allows the release of formerly secret birth information, but still with limitations.

Note:
There are no agencies in Australia that provide information on current records to the general public.
