Nappy Pants For Your Baby

Nappy pants are a nappy covering used over top of a baby’s nappy, be it either a cloth nappy, or a disposable nappy for the purpose of dress-up, or for waterproof protection. For some other brands, it is a pinless cloth nappy that creates a waterproof, machine-washable nappy system that could be friendly to the earth and your budget.

These comfortable baby pants are worn over cloth nappies. The legs are forward facing providing plenty of room in the bottom area for doubled night nappies.

Buying Nappy Pants

Rubber pants are no longer as popular, and finding them may be difficult. Plastic pants are still sold at many major retailers, such as Amazon, and privately owned cloth nappy suppliers. Plastic pants can also be sewn at home from various household materials. Plastic nappy pants will crinkle slightly when worn but are still supple.

Rubber pants are the first option available for parents seeking protection against leakage in cloth nappies. These pants have fitted leg openings and a tight waist that trapped moisture inside. On the other hand, plastic pants are made of polyurethane or vinyl, but the name is sometimes also applied to like garments made of rubberized nylon or polyester. These pants have fitted waist and leg openings to retain moisture.

However, plastic and rubber nappy pants still can leak. After the absorbent pad is filled, moisture is trapped against your baby’s skin, rather than being partially absorbed by the cover. This may result in nappy rash. A cloth nappy absorbent pad is inserted into the pants for wear.

How To Wash Nappy Pants?

Washing plastic and rubber pants successfully requires eliminating the use of heavy detergents or soaps because it may affect the quality of the product. High heat like that in a dryer or the pants will melt. It is also advised not to use petroleum jelly, nappy rash cream or ointment on any parts of your baby’s body that will come in contact with the plastic pants. The chemicals in these products will attack and degrade the plastic or vinyl materials, and will cause the material to become hard and brittle to the point where the material will crack.

Nappy Pants And Potty Training

One of the first steps parents take as they face potty training is determining if their little one is really ready to begin working toward real underwear. And for many, the next step is helping their child transition from nappies to training nappy pants.

Nappy pants are important for introducing potty training to a child. When the child is showing interest in toileting and starting to say dry, it is a good time to start using nappy pants. It may be easiest to introduce them at bedtime and then, if needed, during the day. Allowing the child to feel wetness and tells you that he or she wants to be dry is indicative of potty training readiness. Again, the key is to wait until the child is interested in toilet training with the help of nappy pants.
