Use a Conception Calculator to Find Out When You Conceived

Excited mothers are now very aware of the different pregnancy stages and the various implications at each phase. This has led to an increase in women interested in pinpointing the date they conceived.

If you want to calculate your pregnancy conception date the easiest way to do so is try a conception date calculator. These calculators work to determine a rough date of conception for your child.

What is a conception calculator?

This is a common method used in finding out the conception dates of babies. In order to calculate the right date, you should consider your ovulation, menstrual cycle and the baby’s due date. You can enter your due date and the conception calculator will calculate possible dates of when you fell pregnant.

A pregnancy conception calculator does not only predict when you may have become pregnant, it can also calculate your due date by adding 266 days (38 weeks) to the date of your ovulation or fertilisation. However, in the case of women with a cycle longer than 28 days, the due date may be pushed back by a few days, depending on her health and physical activities.

This calculator may also estimate a fertility window. In addition, some couples try to use this calculator to predict or influence the gender of their baby based on when they had or are planning to have sexual intercourse relative to the ovulation date.

Facts about conception

Conception mostly happens during ovulation and it happens 14 days after the beginning of the menstrual cycle. Most women have a 28 day cycle, hence the ovulation is assumed to start on the 14th day. However, if you have a longer ovulation cycle, you may ovulate a little after 14 days and you may still fall pregnant 5 to 6 days before the ovulation date.

Conception is the condition within the body when the man’s sperm fertilises a woman’s egg. The sperm and egg join in the fallopian tube to form a zygote, which develops into an embryo and eventually, becomes a foetus. Only if the fertilisation of the egg is followed by an implantation, pregnancy will take place.

Approximately, in 7-10 days the zygote becomes a blastocyst, which is a product of approximately 100 cells. The human blastocyst implants in the woman’s uterus. The implanted blastocyst grows three germ layers. The inner layer is called mesoderm, the middle layer is the exoderm and the outermost layer is the endoderm. At this period of development the genetic father is completely involved into the formation of the embryo. Twin pregnancy is possible only till this stage in development.

Caution:

This tool is not a diagnosis. The calculations that are provided are estimates based on averages. This tool should not be used to prevent unwanted pregnancy. For cycles less than 21 days and greater than 35 days, there is a big chance that you may have ovulation problems. However, whether or not you are indeed ovulating as well as the most probable date of ovulation itself can only be determined after a consultation of your health care provider.
